Belvedere House and Gardens is a famous country house located near Mullingar, in county Westmeath, Ireland. Its gardens which include The Jealous Wall and many hectares of forest, attract thousands of visitors annually for their beauty. The house has been restored fully and the grounds are well maintained.
Ireland's largest folly, the Jealous Wall in the grounds of Belvedere House, near Mullingar in County Westmeath. This is an enormous pretend ruin built by the owner of Belvedere House to block the view of the neighbouring house, where his brother lived. He did not get on too well with his brother.
The main property was initially built by a landlord, Robert Rochfort, 1st Earl of Belvedere, in the 18th century. James Sadler, an English balloonist, started a balloon flight from here on 1 October 1812 in an attempt to cross the Irish Sea. However, he almost drowned as a result. Source: Wikipedia
